3. Question:

I have an existing Windows XP 160 GB system. I added the RC-200 card and plugged the old drive in

PM. I plugged a new identical 160GB drive into SM. The RC-200 RAID screen comes up, I hit F3 and

now receive the menu. I hit F2 to create a mirrored RAID and nothing happens. It shows both of my

drives, Drive Number: 0 and Drive Number: 2 just fine. The drive sets show Set 1 and Set 2, one with

each drive. I am following the directions on creating a mirror with an existing Windows XP system.

Answer:

Use the following steps to configure RAID 1 mirror set on a system with an existing OS installation:

1. As the BIOS boots press F3 when prompt to enter the RAID BIOS.

2. Press F2 to enter the RAID setup screen.

3. Press F2 to form RAID set (mirror). In a Mirror set the source drive needs to be equal to or smaller

than the destination drive. For optimal performance the source drive and destination drive should

be on separate IDE channels.

4. Answer N to manual configuration.

5. Assign Source drive, then assign Destination drive.

6. Press Y to copy from Source to Destination drive. If we select "no", it will have the similar result as

"auto configuration".

7. Press N to online copy. (the copy will be done on the background when the system is up) or select

"yes" for offline copy(the copy operation will be performed immediately under BIOS) to duplicate the

data from the original drive into the new drive.
